Welcome to our South Coast Karate Annual Tournament. We encourage everyone, especially our Tiny Tigers and Kid Power students to participate. This is an opportunity to experience healthy competition in an atmosphere of respect and fun.
Everyone who competes will be presented with a participation trophy or win a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place trophy for their efforts.
Our goal is for each student to have a positive experience that is fun, fair and challenging. We hope to see you there and look forward to sharing this special event with you!

Tournament 2018
Location: Girls Inc. 4973 Hollister Avenue, Goleta, CA 93111
Day: Sunday, April 29, 2018
Time: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Check-In: 9:00 – 9:30
Cost: One event = $40 Two events = $55
There will be 2 Main Events:
1) Kata: there will be 3 basic Divisions.
Frog Style (Beginner) Student will perform Kata Geki Sai Dia Ichi in with or without stepping doing as many moves as possible, with kias at any technique.
Directional Style (Intermediate)
Student will perform Kata Geki Sai Dia Ichi in proper direction doing as many moves as possible, with 2 kias at proper technique (move 9 & 12 on reverse punch)
Kata of Choice (Advance)
2) Sparring: there will be 3 basic Divisions.
Flag Style (Beginner)
Students will have 2 flags tucked in sides of belt. First 2 student to remove opponents 2 flags wins, or has removed most flags at the end of 2 minutes moves on to next bracket.
Equipment Minimum requirement: Head gear (will be supplied by SCK if needed)
Point Style (Intermediate)
First student to score 5 points or have most points at the end of 2 minute round moves on to next bracket. Points are awarded for kicks or punches delivered with good form that come within 1-2 inches or makes light contact to front of body above waist and below shoulders, No holding, sweeping or grappling allowed.
Equipment Minimum requirement: Head gear, gloves, mouth piece & groin cup
Point Style (Advance)
First student to score 5 points or have most points at the end of 2 minute round moves on to next bracket. Points are awarded for kicks or punches delivered with good form that come within 1-2 inches or makes light contact to front of body above waist including headgear, No holding, sweeping or grappling allowed, No neck/throat attacks, No groin kicks, thighs can be distraction targets but no point will be awarded to that area.
Equipment Minimum requirement: Head gear w/shield, gloves, boots, mouth piece & groin cup for boys.
